Counselling and Clinical Services

Stewart Consultancies provides services to people across the lifespan. What is offered depends upon the unique strengths, needs and wishes of those seeking assistance. Services include individual, group, couple and family counselling, parenting support and education, and brief or longer-term psychotherapy.

What to expect? The clinician, to best offer help and support, will undertake an assessment of your situation and strengths, explaining how she needs to go about this. You, and anyone else you would like involved, will be invited to speak openly about how you see things – to give the full picture. After the assessment sessions, the clinician shares her ideas with you about your situation and, together, you can discuss your counselling or psychotherapy options, working toward a new pathway forward. These options might involve meeting with you individually, in a group, or with other family member/s on a regular, planned basis. This might also involve finding further support for you.

If it is a child you are seeking assistance for, both you and the child would participate in the assessment. For younger children this could involve play sessions, as this is how young children communicate their ideas and feelings. Options for assistance would normally involve both you and the child, together or separately, and possibly other family members/ caregivers as well. Parents and other caregivers coming to understand and find new solutions can enhance children’s wellbeing.
